Things I've Sewn-Raincoat

Since it has taken me more than a year to blog a new post, I thought that I would blog what I have made recently. I took Clothing and Fashion (aka: Sewing I) my Freshmen year. Since then I have moved on to Sewing II. One project that I made the first semester of Sewing II is a raincoat. I knew I wanted to make a raincoat when I came across the pattern, so I planned to make time in first semester to do so. The pattern that I used to make this raincoat is a McCalls. One of the suggested fabrics for the coat was Laminated Cotton. What is Laminated Cotton, you may ask? Well it's just a regular cotton fabric that is laminated. I had never heard/seen Laminated Cotton before. I decided to look at Joanns thinking they may have had something close to what I wanted. After about 45 minutes looking through Joanns, I came to the conclusion that I was never going to find the right fabric that I wanted. This resorted in me having to order the fabric. I ordered this fabric in a Polka dot print from Fabric.com for around $50. Working with the fabric was pretty easy besides having to use a different needle and not being able to iron when needed. All in all it took me about a 4 weeks to sew it all together. I am in love with the coat and it was so fun to make!

Materials used:
4 yds- Laminated Cotton
5- 3/4 Black Buttons
Black Thread
